MEETING RECAP -- May 8, 2012
Hi Ladies,
Wow! Isn't this weather invigorating! Makes you want to go out and run a race...
We had a great meeting on Tuesday, a special welcome to both Erin and Stacy, and a welcome back to Susan Ray, a former president of the Alpharetta Juniors from quite a while back. We collected boxes of gently worn shoes which will be donated to Soles 4 Souls and boxes of materials for Marisa McCarty for the children in the shelter. We will continue to collect those items for another month. Thanks to each of you who brought items.
Jennifer Geck gave us a special invitation to attend the Angelina Ballerina recital which will be held on Thursday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. at Lupton Hall at Oglethorpe University. She has asked our assistance with hair, make up, etc. so please let her know if you can help out. We are all looking forward to seeing their performance of Beauty and the Beast.
In addition, we will need every members' help on Monday, May 28 for our Celebrate America 5K/10K which will be at the AMC Theater at the corner of Mansell Road and North Point Parkway. We ask that you arrive by 5:30 a.m. or 6:00 a.m. to help register runners, distribute water, food, etc. If you've been there before, you know we count on every person to help out. So family members are welcome! The festivities/awards are usually done by 10:00 a.m. Karen Edge will be contacting our members to get a head count so please do your best to attend. As you know this is our primary fundraiser so we are also asking your help in getting the word out. Attached is a race flyer. Print 10 or 20 out and carry them in your car. Display them wherever you can - gyms, libraries, Starbucks - use your imagination. We would like to have as many pre-registered runners as possible. Our ad has been in the Neighbor Newspapers and there was an article yesterday as well.
Then on Tuesday, June 5 we will be having our recap meeting so we can see how much money was raised and to determine an amount to donate to the charities that were present. And we will make plans for next year.
REMEMBER - VOLUNTEERS ARE NOT PAID BECAUSE THEY ARE WORTHLESS - BUT BECAUSE THEY ARE PRICELESS! Each of you are very special and bring so much to our Club.
